A group of Lakewood residents have successfully worked with Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and the City of Lakewood in an effort to reduce the half mile stretch of Clifton Blvd Extension from four lanes of traffic to two lanes, add bike paths, stanchions, sidewalks, and a cross walk.

On December 19, 2016, Lakewood City Council voted to include the “Clifton Blvd. Extension” project changes in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 budgets.

The engineering plans have already been approved.  They include the lane reductions, bike paths, stanchions, sidewalks, and a cross walk. The city is asking for input from the residents of Lakewood for ideas to beautify this half mile stretch of road.

A new non-profit organization has been set up to gather ideas, inform the community of the progress as it happens, and raise funds to pay for the beautification of the green space surrounding the road.  We will keep the community informed.
